In 2007 Tim & Greg Morin bought Shaker Hill Nursery. With a background in landscaping and design and a desire to expand the existing business, we decided to change the name to Shaker Hill Landscape & Nursery.
Tim started mowing lawns as a young teenager and continued on through college. In 1995 he was hired by the Lewiston Police Department and Greg took over the lawn mowing.
Greg expanded the business, formerly known as Morin's Lawn and Landscape etc., into a full service business. Morin's Lawn and Landscape etc. offered lawn mowing, shrub trimming, landscape design and installation, hardscape design and installation, pool service, carpentry and many more services requested by both residential and commercial clients.
Our desire to move into retail was due to many factors. Morin's Lawn and Landscape etc. was growing too fast to continue operating out of Greg's Lewiston home. Also, Tim & Greg owned and operated a jewelry store for 8 years with their older brother. The indoor environment was not appealing but the customer service and satisfaction of a happy customer was still drawing Tim & Greg into retail.
Our goal is to offer our customers the hardiest plants at a fair and competitive price and to design and install all types of landscapes and hardscapes. We continually modify our methods to improve our stock and expand our line of unique and unusual plants. Customer assistance and satisfaction has made us successful and, realizing this, we do everything possible for our customers. Our small size enables us to focus on your needs and gives the company a personal touch. You can depend on us for quality, reliability and the hope you need to create and maintain beautiful landscapes.
In coming years we plan to expand our retail area and inventory. We hope to be a one stop location for all of your landscaping and gardening needs.
In 1979, Dana Littlefield planted the first trees on land that had been formerly owned and farmed by the Shakers. Every year after, and until 2005, more varieties were added.. We now have a field inventory of over 3,500 plants, with selections to fit all landscape situations. Our location, with its northern exposure, ensures customers that Shaker Hill plants will survive Maine's harsh winters.
From the South: From the Maine Turnpike, take Exit 63 (formerly Exit 11) of I-95 and get on Route 26 North. We are 9 miles from Gray center, a short distance north of the Shaker Community and just over the crest of a big hill.
